Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is the treatment that makes Core Physical Therapy stand out from other physical therapy clinics. In the same way a mechanic uses their hands to fix a car, we use our hands to fix your body. Manual therapy is often the missing link that prohibits people from finding success while at more traditional styles of medicine. There are many types of manual therapy and each of them have a specific purpose depending on the desired reaction from a specific body tissue. Some are more specific to nerves, some joints, some muscles etc. For this reason, Core PT does not specialize in any one manual therapy, but instead we are experts at many, so that we have the right tool to help you get healthy again.
Hands-on techniques we use include but are not limited to: myofascial release, massage, craniosacral therapy, strain-counterstrain, muscle energy technique, joint mobilization, neural tissue tension techniques, neuromuscular techniques, treatment of Chapman's reflexes, deep tissue massage and much more.

Details are important. We want to know what has happened to you, from birth to now. No injury is insignificant. Birth trauma, car accidents, surgeries, broken bones, allergies, digestive problems, stress. It all matters.
Once we have discussed your history, we will ask you to move through a series of various movements. This will allow us to truly understand what your limitations are.

You will receive treatment on your first visit and then of course at all future sessions. Treatments will be varied depending on your needs that day. It is not uncommon to receive treatment to an area of the body which is not hurting. We are always looking for the cause of your pain. Just like if you had a water stain on your ceiling, you wouldn’t just paint over it, you’d find the hole in the roof first.

You should experience a notable difference in your symptoms after the first visit, however you typically will need more than one treatment to be pain free. Some patients only need a couple of sessions, but most will need more. Usually, we recommend 12 sessions to start. That will give you and your therapist ample amount of time to determine if the techniques at Core are right for you. From those initial 12, you and your therapist can determine if additional therapy is in your best interest or if you should change gears and look for other options.
