FAQs

  • Core Physical Therapy's goal is to help you get out of pain and get you back to doing what you love, without drugs or surgery. We focus on the cause of your pain, which is often the part that you don't feel. If you had a water stain on your ceiling, you wouldn’t just paint over the stain without finding the hole in the roof first. At Core, we look for the “holes in your roof” first, searching for the cause of the pain before we “paint over the stain”, resolving your pain complaints.

  • Your first appointment will be 1-hour long. During that time, you will be asked to share your story. Your therapist wants to know about you and how your pain started. The more you can tell us about your history, the easier it will be for us to determine what is causing your pain.

  • At Core Physical Therapy, it is our goal to find and treat the root of your problem; the Core. For patients that want to improve and overcome their limitations, it is important to correct the actual problem. It is important to get to the CORE.

  • Our therapists have the ability to greatly improve arthritic conditions. Arthritis is often a result of an imbalance within the effected joint. This imbalance can have many causes, including tight muscles or poor alignment of the bones comprising the joint. If the joint surfaces do not contact each other properly, they will be irritated with movement, resulting in swelling. Both irritation and swelling will cause joint pain locally and may refer this pain to other areas of the body. We treat the unique cause of the patient's pain by performing an extensive head to toe evaluation and devising an individualistic treatment plan, aimed at correcting the problem.

  • In most cases, you will need more than one visit to be pain free. How chronic your complaints are will influence how many visits you will need to feel better.

  • Core Physical Therapy's methodology is based off of osteopathic medicine. We use an approach called the "Inclusion Method" which allows us to use a multitude of assessments and treatment techniques to fix your problem. You are unique. Why settle for a cookie cutter treatment plan?

  • Talk with your therapist about any questions you might have about your progress. Sometimes the treatment doesn’t work, but many times, patients are actually getting better but they feel like they are not. When this happens, the patient doesn’t recognize how much more activity they are doing. For example, “Joe” feels pain rated 5/10 when going up the stairs. He is only able to walk up one step at a time and requires both handrails for balance. After 6 or 7 visits, he talks to his therapist about his pain. His therapist asks Joe to describe how he walks up the stairs. Joe says he can walk up the stairs using a step over step pattern and doesn’t use the handrails at all and his pain is 5/10. In this example, Joe has made A LOT of progress, but he doesn’t see it because he is only focusing on his pain and not the level of activity.

  • We do our best to match you with a therapist that can best treat your symptoms. Sometimes the matching doesn’t quite line up. If you find yourself in that situation, know that our therapists do not take it personal if you want a different set of eyes to look at you. Sometimes a fresh perspective is a great thing. You can talk to your therapist about it directly or let our front desk staff know and they will be able to help you. It’s all about you getting better.
